As a Colorado State Licensed summer camp, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, leadership, and outdoor education while fostering a spirit of adventure and discovery.
Our certified staff meet Colorado State Early Childhood teacher requirements and are trained in CPR, ensuring the well-being of every camper. We maintain state-required staff-to-child ratios and emphasize collaboration, patience, and continuous learning to provide thoughtful, individualized attention to each child.
Our team is made up of certified guides with backgrounds in education, recreation, environmental science, and youth development. Each staff member undergoes comprehensive training in our camp philosophy, safety protocols, and outdoor activities. With a shared passion for inspiring young adventurers, they create engaging experiences that build confidence, independence, and a lasting appreciation for nature.
Our Mission
At Balance School's Adventure Camp, we believe that the greatest classroom has no walls. Our mission is to provide children with transformative outdoor experiences that foster resilience, curiosity, and a deep connection to the natural world. Through experiential learning, children discover their own capabilities while developing essential life skills—problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, and environmental stewardship.
Our Vision
Our vision is to cultivate a generation of confident, compassionate individuals who approach challenges with creativity and respect for both nature and each other. We create adventures that balance fun with growth, freedom with responsibility, and individual achievement with community support.
Safety & Supervision
Your child's safety is our highest priority at Balance School's Adventure Camp. Our comprehensive approach to safety includes:
Staff-to-Camper Ratios:
We maintain a 1:10 ratio for younger campers (ages 6-8) and 1:15 for older campers (ages 9-12), exceeding industry standards to ensure personalized attention and supervision.
Staff Qualifications:
All staff members are certified in First Aid and CPR. Senior staff hold additional certifications in Wilderness First Response and water safety. Background checks are required for every team member.
Daily Safety Protocols:
Each day begins with a safety briefing tailored to the days activities. Guides carry first aid kits, communication devices, and emergency contact information at all times.
Emergency Preparedness:
Our team follows detailed emergency action plans for various scenarios, from minor injuries to severe weather. Regular drills ensure staff can respond quickly and effectively to any situation.
Transportation Safety:
Our pick-up and drop-off locations are carefully selected for safety and convenience. Staff members supervise campers during arrival and departure, and our transportation protocols include vehicle safety checks and certified drivers.
Health Management:
We collect comprehensive health information for each camper and maintain medication schedules when needed. Our staff is trained to recognize and respond to health concerns, from allergic reactions to heat-related illness.
As a family-owned and operated camp, we treat each child as if they were our own. Our local roots give us intimate knowledge of the natural areas we explore, allowing us to provide authentic experiences while maintaining the highest safety standards.
